Where Did the Summer Go?
Oh my goodness, has it really been a month since I last blogged? What on earth have I been doing? (I mean, what could be more important than BLOGGING, right?)
Well, let’s see . . . I turned in book three of Wings of Fire (currently titled THE HIDDEN KINGDOM, ooooooo), which is Glory’s book, and maybe my favorite so far. Glory is the snarky, sarcastic, “whatever, maybe I’ll fulfill this prophecy, maybe I won’t” RainWing dragonet, whose emotions show up in the color of her chameleon-like scales even while she’s pretending not to care about anything. She is much tougher and funnier than I am, and I always love writing characters like that!
Plus this book takes the dragonets to a tribe where the dragons have pets, so I got to write some Sunshine-esque cuteness in amongst the venom-spitting and eyeball-melting fun. (Whee!)
I also sent my darling two-year-old off to preschool, which it turns out is maybe the most traumatizing parenting experience I’ve had so far. My baby! Abandoned! Unmoored! Making friends and learning things and having fun without me there to tell him how! THE ANGST! (Although my fellow parent over here doesn’t seem to be suffering nearly the same level of trauma as me. In fact, he seemed significantly less horrified by the sniffling toddler we dropped off than he was by the quantity of Ben & Jerry’s S’mores ice cream I had to eat to recover. Where is your sense of empathy, sir?) (For me, I mean. Of course.)
I’ve also been snuggling a baby…
…and doing laundry. Lots and lots and LOTS of laundry.
But I have been meaning to come on here to share this awesome review with you guys — aww! So cool! Thanks, SciFi Chick! 🙂 🙂 🙂
And while you’re wandering the Internet, check out this thrilling book trailer for What’s Left of Me — a book I haven’t read yet, but my sister edited it and loved it, and I can’t wait to get a copy! (<– hint, subtle hint, to the young lady with the extra copies in her office, hem hem)
Also, are you registered to vote? Are you sure? Or if you can’t yet, are your parents registered to vote? Go poke them and tell them it’s important.
All right, my lovely friends; I know it was a short blog, but at least I showed up, right? With baby pictures, so all is forgiven? 🙂
I should probably come back soon to talk about which fall shows I’ll be watching, as I usually do at this time of year, but man, it’s a sad slate of options this season. Why can’t So You Think You Can Dance and Pretty Little Liars just go on forever? Siiiiiiigh!
Hope you’re all having a marvelous September! Hooray for fall! Hayrides and Halloween ahoy!
