Happy Thanksgiving! :-)
I know it seems like all the news is gloomy right now, but I figure that’s what holidays like Thanksgiving are for — to make us stop and think, well, what’s the good news? What about all the things that make us happy?
For instance, I am thankful for:
(1) Our shiny new president! And our shiny new president’s energy policy, which is going to save the planet and the economy at the same time. Oh, I have faith. At least he cares about that stuff, which is novel and reassuring.
(2) Dogs! Did you SEE the adorable National Dog Show that was on today? Adorable Lhasa Apso! Adorable basset hound! Adorable Cavalier! Seriously, we should stop more often to appreciate the miracle that anything has evolved to be that sweet and loving and friendly and loyal. And then we should try to be more like them. 🙂
(3) Dollhouse is coming! It’s been way too long since we had Joss Whedon’s brain on our TV screens, but finally he’ll be blowing our minds all over again starting February 13, 2009! Woohoo! And along with Eliza Dushku, the show stars Fred from Angel and Helo from Battlestar Galactica! So for anyone who loves amazing storytelling (and hot guys), this is definitely good news.
(4) Eggnog, pumpkin pie, candy canes, pumpkin ice cream, stuffing, gravy, cider, pie of all kinds, eggnog ice cream and all the other happy holiday foods that are everywhere this time of year. YUM.
(5) At least we’re not those guys out there playing football in the freezing cold on Thanksgiving instead of eating turkey. Isn’t it much nicer to be indoors, snuggled up with dogs and blankets and pumpkin pie? :-) I certainly think so.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful turkey day!
Quote of the Day:
Gantu: What is that monstrosity?
Jumba: Monstrosity? What you see before you is the first of a new species. I call it Experiment 626. He is fire-proof, bullet-proof, and can think faster than a super computer. He can see in the dark, and lift objects three thousand times his size. His only instinct…is to destroy everything he touches! Ha ha ha ha!
Grand Councilwoman: So it IS a monster.
Jumba: Eh, just a little one.
