A Bears Cover! and Chatting about Chats
As a thank-you to any Erin Hunter fans for stopping by…check it out!:
It’s the cover for Book Three! WOO HOO! Which I just finished writing (the first draft of!), so it is sort of trippy to see a cover for it already. But isn’t it thrilling and OMINOUS? Oh BOY! Spooky mountains! Yay! :-) Thank you so much for sending it to me, Vicky!
I had the most exciting weekend, because I got to participate in a Wands and Worlds Erin Hunter online chat with the other three Erin Hunters (yay Vicky and Kate and Cherith!), and it was absolutely bananas! Warriors fans RULE! And also type really fast! When I signed in, the lines in the chat window were just whizzing by. I have a feeling my first few comments were: "wheeeeeee!" and "eeeeeeeeeek!" and "OH MY GOODNESS WHEEEEEEEEE!" or something equally wise and perspicacious, which I’m sure conveyed my impeccable poise and sophistication really well. La la LA. 🙂
By the way, someone pointed out that we had a full moon that night, so it was kind of like our own Gathering (<– Warriors reference), which is so cool! I think I’d like to be a RiverClan cat, because I love swimming and I’m quite fond of fish (and then maybe I could meet the cat version of Michael Phelps!…what? that’s not normal?).
I will post a link to the transcript as soon as it’s up on the W&W site — I really will do this, even if I read it and discover I sounded like an absolute nitwit. ;-) I mean, I’m sure I missed all kinds of brilliant comments and questions and favorite pizza toppings as they went flying by. And now I wish I’d written down everyone’s names so I could say hi here! I remember Midnightwind because she was also at my library talk (yay! and hi Midnightwind!). :-) And hello to everyone else, too, if you’ve come over here to visit! I wish I could have stayed and chatted for longer. I wish all my author events could be online with fabulous people like you! SO MUCH FUN!
I think one of the funniest parts was when I said something like "oh, that would be tres exciting" and someone went "TUI SPEAKS FRENCH!" and then everyone was like "oo, je le pas de deux croissants!" and "ah, les poissons sacre bleu baguette!" (except it was actual French, not my made-up French, which as you can see consists almost entirely of words for food) and meanwhile I’m madly trying to type "NO NO WAIT I don’t speak French! That’s all the French I know! I learned it from reading Eloise! The classiness is all a facade! I only wish I were Audrey Hepburn! Zut alors!" while also falling off my chair laughing. That’ll teach me a lesson, won’t it? 😉
I also learned that I am way behind in the exciting world of emoticon development. Apparently XD is so the new :-)! Who knew? I felt like my old boss, who once sent me an email asking: "Why are there so many colons and half-parenthesis signs in your emails?" And here I thought I was all hip because I totally know what ROTFL means. But I love it; I say the more ways there are to smile in cyberspace, the better. XD
Anyway, I’ll comment more on the chat once I go back and read the transcript and remember all the silly things I said, and then maybe I can answer any questions that whizzed by too fast for me (or where I thought of clever answers too late). 🙂
Meanwhile, I am currently writing a mystery, which is also a paranormal romance, which is COMPLICATED! I hope I can wrestle it all together in the end. I think I have all the clues figured out, but I don’t yet know what to do with the bad guy once he’s unmasked, as I’m not entirely sure he deserves to be staked. Vampire prison? Vampire reality show rehab? HMMMMM.
I am also watching way too much Olympics, and I was THRILLED TO PIECES last night when they actually showed some trampoline! This sport makes me giddy the same way Bollywood movies do. It is SO AWESOME. WHEE with the bouncing! And the flipping! And the BOUNCING! I think any sport that Tigger would be good at automatically qualifies as the best sport ever.
All right, I have to get back to the manuscript (not watching 3am Olympics! No, I am not! Because there are guests sleeping in my living room!), but I’m going to be updating my homepage TRES SOON (maybe even right now, if I open the manuscript and find it too daunting) with more exciting covers, such as AVATARS 3 WOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!, which I’ll also post here in the blog next week. (So come back and see it! Yippee!)
Yay online chats! And YAY online chatters! (chatterers? hrm…) :-) XD 🙂
Quote of the Day: “For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much — the wheel, New York, wars and so on — whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man, for precisely the same reasons.” — Douglas Adams
