Welcome 2

Available March 12, 2013

Hello, lovely readers, and thanks for visiting my website!  Hopefully you’ve stopped by because you’ve read one of my books, or would like to (please do!), or because you were looking for one of my pseudonyms (Tamara Summers? Heather Williams?) and now you’re wondering who I am.  Or maybe because you saw me on Jeopardy! a few years ago!  🙂  I write under several different names, so I hope you’ll click around the website to find all my booksrelated sites, FAQs, and my very rambly TV- and baby-obsessed blog.

My most recent projects are a trilogy called The Menagerie which I wrote with my sister, and my big epic five-book dragon series Wings of Fire, which has a thrilling TRAILER!, so I hope you’ll check that excitement out.  🙂  And then carry on to find out more about Wings of Fire book one and book two, read the Prophecy, or view the awesome map of The World of Pyrrhia — and don’t forget to check out Scholastic’s great site for a Which Dragonet Are You? quiz.

The amazing Wings of Fire artwork throughout this site (apart from the map) was done by Joy Ang, and it’s kind of the most glorious thing I’ve ever seen. Thank you, Joy!

And a million thank yous to Beth at Cincinnati Media, who made this shiny website possible with her speed and brilliance. Yay Beth!

Book Nine Is Here! Happy New Year!

Hello lovely readers!

I know, can you believe it?  A BLOG!  After all these months!  I just apparently abandoned the rest of 2016 — to be honest, I was finding the Internet/the news/reality a little stressful (like…everyone? I think?).  So I have been focused on deadlines and dragons (and my two little bears, who make even reality seem pretty wonderful) and planning future projects, which I hope will lead to exciting announcements eventually!

But for TODAY the thing I have to mention, even though hopefully all of you know this already, is that BOOK NINE IS OUT!  It’s been out for almost a week, so some of you have probably read it eight times already (you know who you are and by the way I love you), but in case any of you don’t have it yet, now you can sprint off to your closest bookstore and get it!

Wings of Fire Book Nine: Talons of Power is Turtle’s story — the dragon who’d rather hide than save the world, which made him a little tricky for me to write (every page I had to be like, Turtle, explain to me WHY YOU’RE NOT SAVING THE WORLD RIGHT NOW?).  But I believe everyone has the potential to save the world, even poor Turtle, so I hope you guys enjoy his journey and end up wanting to give him a hug as much as I do!

I will try to come back and blog again soon — I have a list of favorite books I read last year that I want to share with you guys!  But first I have to finish BOOK TEN AAAAAACK (almost there!  I hope!) . . . so I’ll be back when my brain has returned from Pyrrhia!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone!  I hope your 2017 is full of kindness and empathy and hugs and hope and courage and joy.  🙂

Things Making Me Happy Right Now: the movie Moana, especially the soundtrack, which is on an endless loop in our house — my four-year-old singing “You’re Welcome” is kind of the greatest thing in the universe.  My mother is from New Zealand, so although we’re white (no awesome wayfinding ancestors for me), I grew up with Maori storybooks and studied Maori art and I’ve always loved that part of the world, so this movie about a brave/hilarious Polynesian princess and their amazing voyager history just made me really happy.  My parents’ dog is actually named Maui, after the trickster demigod, long before the movie came out.  And this is sort of hilarious — Moana’s dad in the movie is called Chief Tui!  SERIOUSLY.  I never see my name in pop culture, so on the one hand, that’s very exciting, although if it inspires a boom in children named Tui (yup, totally see that happening), um, it would be splendid if some of them could be girls, too!  🙂

More soon!
